Environmentally Responsible

We think it is minimum hygiene requirement that our services and operations should have the lowest possible adverse impact on the environment. We even want to take this one step further – we work to reduce the negative environmental impact in industries where transportation play a key role.

Environmental care has been a corporate core value for Centiro since the company was founded in 1998, and it is an integrated part of daily business throughout the value chain. We design our processes and products in such a way that energy, natural resources, and raw material are used efficiently.

Centiro is certified to ISO 14001:2015, for environmental management, and ISO 50001:2011, for energy management.

Green Work

Creating and maintaining safe, healthy, and functional workspace and datacenter buildings is part of Centiro’s sustainability commitment. Centiro’s global hub in Sweden is housed in a green building designed to be sustainable in all aspects and throughout its entire lifecycle. It is certified to the highest published Swedish standard by Swedish Green Building Council - Svensk Miljöbyggnad Guld. This standard adresses use of energy, materials, acoustics, light and other aspects considered important when speaking about sustainability in all facets.

Centiro’s objective for investing in the green buildings is to do our best to reduce the overall impact of the buildings on human health and natural environment by:

  • Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources,
  • Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity, and
  • Reducing waste, pollution, and environmental degradation

The global hub office in Borås, Sweden is equipped with solar panels supporting the idea of a self-suffient energy principle and movement to renewable energy. The energy supplied to our main datacenter (from 100% certified renewable wind, hydro or solar energy) is re-used to heat the office building after providing electricity to our servers.

Green Culture

All Centiro colleagues protect the environment by following environmentally sustainable work practices to reduce harm on the environment and reduce wastage of resources. Examples of work practices employed are:

  • Reduce waste. We choose products of good quality that will last long, can be used productively, and then be recycled or reused.
  • Recycle. We sort and recycle waste material, wherever possible.
  • Purchases. We consider the environment and sustainability when planning and making decisions and purchases.
  • Awareness. We ensure employees are aware of their environmental responsibilities.
  • Performance. We continually improve environmental performance by assessing environmental risk by solid work procedures.
  • Travel habits. We aim to travel with as low negative impact on the environment as possible. Centiro policy sets the guidelines for safe and cost-effective travel that considers the environmental aspects. Tele-commuting is an everyday working practice.

Green IT

As a software company, we put environmentally sustainable computing in focus. This means that we have designed our datacenters to function efficiently and effectively with minimal impact on the environment. We run a green computing initiative, where we reduce the use of hazardous materials, maximize energy efficiency during the equipment's lifetime, and promote the recyclability or biodegradability of retired equipment.

Centiro Services - Efficient Transportation

Centiro creates sustainable transportation services that meet the needs of our customers while simultaneously addressing global sustainability challenges.

With the carrier- and delivery management services we deliver, positive environmental impact comes from that transportation flows are optimized, consolidated, and controlled so that optimal loads are achieved, optimal routes are chosen, less transports are needed, and goods are correctly delivered, among other things.
